Organisational Development with feminist flair

  • Designing and sustaining co-leadership / collective leadership models

  • Internal communications, information flow and participatory decision making processes

  • Design of emergent learning models

  • Design of policies and internal processes

  • Seeding and cultivating organisational culture, especially in virtual working environments

  • Supporting organisations through transition and change

At FRIDA I had a core role in seeding organisational culture that centered care and wellbeing. An example of this can be found in FRIDA’s Happiness Mainfestx, A set of agreements that all staff members at FRIDA have committed to putting in practice on individual, collective and institutional care.

In 2012 at the Fred Hollows Foundation I led a process of gender mainstreaming and dedicated gender programming in the Foundation, included developing a strategy for gender Equity and Inclusion and leading design of a training curriculum.

Strategic Planning, Strategy Design and Programmatic Design

  • Accompanying organisations, networks and consortiums through creative and dynamic strategic and operational planning processes

  • Innovative design and coordination of programs

  • Drawing on participatory models, including grant making practices

  • Develop youth engagement strategy, policies or programs

I have over 10 years+ experience in program management and creative approaches to managing results. In particular. I have experience designing learning capacity development and accompaniment programs, at FRIDA, UN Women and with Amnesty International, all geared towards supporting youth led activism. I also have experience in setting up activist volunteer structures.

I am currently accompanying the With and For Girls Collective in their 2021-2026 Strategic planning process. I played a lead role managing a highly participatory strategic planning process for FRIDA | The Young Feminist Fund, including co-leading a consultation process in 10+ countries in 2018/19

Philanthropic advising and support in developing grant making and investment strategies

  • Design and oversee creation of grant making strategies - in particular with a focus on young women and girls

  • Participatory grant making models

  • Direct advice and accompaniment to organisational and philanthropic leaders on the design of funding portfolios on young women and girls rights

More detail on my experience / examples:

I have a strong understanding on how funders can meaningfully resource the rights and organising work of young women, girls and trans youth. I have a concrete understanding of opportunities to fund intersectionally and across geographies and generations.

Design and facilitation of convenings, trainings and collective space

  • Support coalition building, creation of partnerships and spaces grounded in trust and care

  • Coordination of dynamic design processes of convenings

  • Form part of convening facilitation teams, offering concrete experience in facilitating learning exchange and participatory models

I have experience organising national, regional and global convenings with activists across the world. During my time at FRIDA I was part of the lead organisers of the following convenings: Global Convening, Chiang Mai Thailand, 2013
, Sub Saharan Africa Regional Convening, Nairobi, Kenya, 2015
, MENA Barcamp, Amman, Jordan, 2016
, Global Convening at AWID Forum, Salvador de Bahia, Brazil, 2016
, LAC Regional Convening, Mexico City, Mexico, 2016.

Also check out this research on convenings I co-created with Boikanyo Modungwa ‘Come Together - learnings from FRIDA’s convenings’ here.

I also was a lead facilitator for the NoVo Foundation Girls Funds Convening in Brooklyn, USA in 2019. I am trained in the Art of Hosting Facilitation school.
